Job Description:

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Production Support Specialist with our client in the financial industry located in Chandler, AZ or Chicago, IL. This is a 12 + month contract position.

Responsibilities: First point of contact for business requests and reported impact
Monitor and alert of critical trading system environments
Release implementation and post-release testing
Build and maintain strong partnerships with business stakeholders, application development personnel, and infrastructure contacts
Troubleshoot complex systems issues
Proactive identification and resolution of problem hotspots
Development of tools and driving efficiency/stability improvements
Build projects from GIT
Debug and update Python/Perl code for ad hoc tasks
Create new Java, Perl, Python application for ad hoc tasks
Maintain terabytes databases
Identify performance issue and provide solution for DBA
Create and executing SQL script to purge bad data or load missing prices
Analyze logs using common UNIX syntax and identify data exceptions, Splunk regex index searches, Elasticsearch
Execute trouble shooting commands to identify slow programmatic bottlenecks and processing
Understand wide IP and FDNS and set up new settings with bank network team
Respond to requests and inquiries from users within the pre-determined timeframe of our service level agreement
Monitor the scheduling jobs and ensure proper action in case if issues or failures
Maintain documentation and knowledge repository


Requirements: Operating systems: Solaris, Linux, Windows
Scripting languages: Unix Shell, Perl, Python, SQL (Intermediate level: multi-table joins, grouping results, etc.)
Grid computing and batch management
L2 Application Production support experience
Prior experience in the Financial Industry, specifically supporting a trading desk
Working knowledge of application monitoring
Prior experience with incident management in a support function role
Understanding of Service Level Agreements and Management
Demonstrated inter-office communications
Experience in Job scheduling tools like Autosys
Experience in the Hadoop Framework
Experienced with Jenkins, Bit Bucket Artifactory
Ability to rationalize the impact of multiple concurrent issues/requests and prioritize work accordingly
Independent sense of motivation to continuously improve themselves and the environment
Intuitive problem solving ability which leads to solution alternatives that reflect the analyst's diverse foundation of knowledge, skills and experiences
Confidence, focus, and adaptable communication style required to effectively coordinate restoration efforts for high-impact technology incidents
Well-rounded understanding of infrastructure disciplines (network, server, storage, messaging)
Prior experience as a Site Reliability Engineer or DevOps Engineer
Ability to solve production down situations under tight SLA deadlines; root cause and problem resolution follow-up
Experience in monitoring tools like ITRS Geneous, Splunk
Prior working knowledge of developing/writing/debugging: Java, Perl, Python, Linux/Unix shell and SQL
Familiar with Tibco/FIX Messaging systems
Practiced LeanIT / Agile software development life cycles, JIRA Kanban boards
Relational database - Microsoft SQL server database knowledge, Object Oriented databases
UNIX / Linux OS, knowledge of scripting languages - Perl and python
Understanding of Distributed Networks/Routers/Firewalls
Comfortable leading daily technical change meetings managing global resources through the banks change process
Report generation through presentation and analysis tools like: Tableau and MS Office
Well-rounded understanding of Software Development Lifecycle
Adherence to written procedures and policies for Change Management
Ability to Support users on complex technical issues, data issues, problems related to supported applications
Strong sense of teamwork and inclusiveness
Flexible enough to work for extended hours and on weekends as needed to handle high priority issues, production recoveries, provide support to Dev Infrastructure Releases
Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical individuals
Understanding in depth the business processes supported by the system
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Good verbal and written communication skills


Pay range: $46.09 - $54.09
